VERNON Kay has failed to make a splash with his new TV show.
The former St John Rigby College pupil is currently hosting Splash on ITV, which features Olympic diver Tom Daley teaching celebrities to dive.
Despite getting decent audience figures of 6.1m, critics and viewers have branded it a flop, with celebrities taking to Twitter.
Big Brother star Imogen Thomas said: “This show is so cheesy. Cringe” and TV and radio broadcaster Steve Penk tweeted: “This has got to be the worst show ever.”
Vernon’s wife Tess Daly has also been hit with criticism - from 999 presenter Michael Buerk.
He attacked her BBC coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, saying: “The Dunkirk Little Ships, the most evocative reminders of this country’s bravest hour, were ignored so that a pneumatic bird brain from Strictly could talk to transvestites in Battersea Park.”
