Rollercoaster season planned at WLT

THEATRE lovers have been promised a rollercoaster of emotions as local thesps unveil details of their variety-packed new season.

Wigan Little Theatre bosses say that the coming months will see plays served up that cater to all tastes.

In September, the theatre on Crompton Street will re-open its doors to bring audiences another year of comedy, drama, pantomime and musicality.

The season kicks off with Neil Simon’s brilliant comedy Last of the Red Hot Lovers. The story shows the attempts of a middle-aged and married man attempting to have an affair.

Barney Cashman wants to join the sexual revolution before it’s too late so he arranges three seductions: the first proves to be a foul-mouthed bundle of neuroses; the next is an actress who’s too crazy by half; finally comes a gloomy, depressed housewife who happens to be married to Barney’s best friend!

Paul Dawson will direct his brother John in the leading role and he is supported by Cathy Owen, Stacey Vernon and Maggie Hall as the “love interest!”

Last of the Red Hot Lovers runs from Wednesday to Saturday September 1 to 11 at 7.30pm each evening (excluding Sunday).

The box office will re-open on Monday August 23 (weekday nights between 7pm and 9pm excluding Sundays and bank holidays).

Patrons can book for any shows now, excluding the pantomime which goes on sale on Monday October 4.
