TWO Wigan cousins with modelling aspirations are hoping to progress in a national beauty pageant.
Alyx Mills and Nicola Feeley, both from Ashton, were advised to enter the competition after being scouted at the Clothes Show Live in London last year.
And now the two best pals require public votes in order to feature at the national finals and compete to be Teen Queen UK 2013.
Both teens have a keen interest in all things to with fashion and modelling.
St Edmund Arrowsmith pupil Alyx, 15, said: “I would love to have a career in fashion design so this competition is a good head start.
“I have my own unique style and I enjoy new experiences. I’ve never done anything like this before, we were just at the clothes show in December and someone from the competition took our details and asked us to apply.
“This September I plan to go to Winstanley College and from there I plan to go to university, hopefully in London, to study fashion.”
Nicola, who is a student at St John Rigby College in Orrell, has aspirations to forge a career on the catwalk.
The 17-year-old said: “I like to stand out and look different as I think this makes people more interesting and inspirational.
“I’ve always wanted to be a model and to win would mean the world to me as I never thought I’d get this far in the first place.”
And both girls have an advantage over other contestants, having a close confidante to share the competition experience. Nicola said: “To have Alyx go through to this stage as well makes it even more exciting - I know we’re both as nervous as each other, so we can reassure each other as we know what the other is feeling.
Alyx, said: “Nicola and I are really close and share the same interest in fashion and modelling. I find it reassuring knowing that my cousin is there and would love for both of us to be able to go to the final in London together.”
