COULD adopted Wiganer Bradley Wiggins be considering entering into the world of music?

There was wild speculation that the Olympic cyclist, whose wife, Catherine, comes from Shevington, was to join The Jam frontman Paul Weller on a new version of the band’s single Window Shopping.

But it appears that despite Wiggins being a super fan, the collaboration was just a rumour, as Weller took to Twitter to set the record straight.

He said: “Please note that there is no truth whatsoever in reports that Paul is recording a song with Bradley Wiggins.”

The story escalated when a source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s all incredibly exciting and has been in the pipeline for some time. Everything has finally been signed off though, and a date (to record) set for mid-February.

“(Wiggins) will be joining his boyhood heroes, Bruce and Steve, on guitar with a small cameo, and as well as lending his studio, Paul will chip in on instrumentals, while Russell will be on vocals.

“Although there are certainly no immediate plans for a Jam reunion, stranger things have happened.”

The 32-year-old Wigan Warriors fan joined Weller on stage at the Hammersmith Apollo last month when the duo performed a rendition of That’s Entertainment.

He strummed on a red guitar in the background and only briefly making his way forward to the microphone to add some backing vocals.

They have even recorded a program together for BBC Radio 6 Music, called When Bradley Wiggins Met Paul Weller, which was aired on Boxing Day.
