A WIGAN man has been left egg-static ... after his tea time treat produced FIVE double-yolkers.
Dad of one Mark Holdsworth was left believing his luck couldn’t be beaten when he cracked an egg into his frying pan to find the unexpected extra.
But he was left speechless when the next four eggs from the same half dozen produced the very same surprise. And that was no yolk!
Mark’s bonus came from a single half dozen box of Big and British brand eggs from Asda’s Soho Street superstore.
He used the egg-citing purchase to produce a sensational sunny side up egg on toast for wife Natalie and himself.
The Nestle foods sales representative joked that his next stop would be a newsagent to buy a National Lottery ticket - because clearly the Gods of fortune had smiled on him.
He insists that a trawl of the internet has produced the astonishing odds that finding five double yolkers in a single half dozen box of eggs would be a “billions to one” event.
And Mark, who is currently on paternity leave because of the birth of his son, his first child, earlier this month, may yet be able to celebrate an even more astonishing bit of luck.
Because he is yet to crack open the only egg left from the box.
Mark, who lives in Beacon View Drive in Up Holland, said: “I have only ever had one double yolker that I can remember in my whole life.
“So to find five in just one box is absolutely amazing.
“I cracked one egg and was surprise to see what came out. But then when the next one came out as a double yolker and then the next one and the next one, I just couldn’t believe it.
“I called my wife over to have a look in the pan because I didn’t think she would believe me.”
