THIS tasty reindeer treat will be the envy of all Christmas parties!

RL Hughes Primary School pupil Emma Johnson, eight, beat hundreds of primary school children to be crowned the winner of The Cake Boutique Christmas cake competition.

Her creative reindeer design won over the judges and Emma, of Ashton, was invited to bake her first official cake.

Janet Woodcock, co-owner, said: “We just loved the reindeer idea, especially with its curly antlers.

“It was a really simple idea which could easily be transferred on to a cake.

“We had hundreds of entries and a lot of elaborate designs.

“We organise this competition every year and it keeps us involved in the community.

“We like to work with local schools and the children really enjoy it.

“We like to make cakes with them and it keeps them interested in the fact that we are here.”

Winner Emma said: “I thought that a reindeer was really Christmassy and was the first thing that popped into my head.

“I like drawing and Christmas so it was great to do both of these at the same time.

“I am really excited about my idea being turned into a cake.

“I will be making more cakes over Christmas and give them to my family.”

Pupils from St Thomas’s and St Oswald’s primary schools also took part.
