3,000 year-old Whalebone mask found in Alaska

Archaeologists in Alaska have found the remains of a whalebone mask believed to be 3,000 years old.

It was discovered while they were unearthing an ancient village, and is, they say, about 2,000 years older than any previously known Aleut mask.

It was created at the time Homer was writing the Iliad and Odyssey when the Earth suddenly cooled, and ice surrounded the Aleutian Islands.
