PUPILS from two Wigan schools have been selected to represent the town at a special anniversary service at Westminster Abbey this Friday.

The six youngsters from Hindley Saint Peters and Aspull Church will travel to the capital for the 200th Anniversary Service for the Church of England’s National Society at Westminster Abbey.

There will be three pupils from each school after they were selected in front of the other church schools from across the borough.

Associate head teacher of Hindley Saint Peters, Ross Prior, said: “It’s something the pupils are really looking forward to. It obviously fills us with pride that they thought we would be good ambassadors.”

Aspull headteacher Jenny Clarke said: “It will be a very memorable day. We’ve been talking beforehand what it means and the significance of the service in lessons and looked at the Abbey itself.”
