THE M6 has fully reopened following an accident near Wigan.

Two lanes were closed on the northbound carriageway between Standish, junction 27, and Leyland, junction 28, after a car hit a lamp post and collided with another vehicle at 9.05am today (Wednesday).

Emergency services arrived to find one car overturned in a field.

Two people are said to have suffered minor injuries and police closed the lanes while the vehicles were recovered.

Traffic flow is now back to normal.
