BRADLEY Wiggins enjoyed a night with the stars as he picked up a lifetime achievement award at the GQ Men of the Year awards.
The cycling hero attended the star-studded bash at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden with Shevington-born wife Cath.
He was presented with it by former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
“Not since Phil Daniels in Quadrophenia has anyone looked this cool on a set of wheels,” declared Gallagher as he handed over the award.
The Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medalist was delighted to pick up the gong.
After receiving it, he spoke about how much the national reaction to the Olympics had spurred on Team GB to their incredible victories, and how it is now doing the same for the Paralympics.
He said: “People like David Weir have been amazing and Ellie Simmonds and people have realised they are just amazing athletes.”
The adopted Wiganer was back up north though yesterday and spent the day with one of his own sporting heroes... Warriors star Sam Tomkins.
The Wigan full-back, who tasted success himself at the weekend when the the league leaders shield was won, tweeted how he was looking forward to a special bike ride: “Just getting my stuff ready for a bike ride with @bradwiggins in the morning .... Not a bad way to spend my day off!”
