Arrest made as assault in Wigan nightclub leaves man in critical condition

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in a Wigan bar which has left a man in a 'critical condition'.

Just before 2.30am on Friday morning, police were called to the Plantation Bar and Grill on Wigan Road in Ashton.

A 30-year-old man was found on the floor with a serious wound to the head. He was taken to hospital where he still remains in a critical condition.

Wigan detectives have now arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Inspector Richard Thompson, from GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “We have one man currently in custody but our investigation continues.

“We understand people have mobile footage which could help us with our enquiries.

“We would ask anyone that does to get in touch, as well anyone who might have witnessed anything.”
