A POPULAR pub which was hit by arsonists in an incident earlier this month has been demolished.
Flames coming from the George and Dragon Pub in Tyldesley roared through the night as fire crews fought to save it after it was set on fire following a raid which saw the landlord kidnapped.
Last week it was revealed that the building had been deemed unsafe and would have to be demolished in the interest of the safety of the public.
And now the pub, which is about a century old, was pulled down.
On March 3 the landlord of the pub was kidnapped just after he had locked up for the night, he was driven about 10 miles away where he was dumped before thieves returned to the pub, which they robbed and then set alight.
It took fire crews about eight hours to get the blaze under control.
