A WOMAN fought off a yob who tried to snatch her bag as she walked to work.
At around 1.50pm on Thursday, a 33-year-old woman was walking along Gordon Street, Leigh, when the offender rode up behind her and grabbed her handbag.
The thief tried to pull it from her but the woman refused to let go.
The man – described as white, of average height and slim build – then rode off empty handed.
He was wearing a dark blue jacket with a grey hooded jumper underneath, dark blue or black trousers, a baseball cap and was riding a mountain bike.
Pc Kat Tyldesley, of the Volume Crime Team, said: “The offender saw an opportunity to try and steal the woman’s handbag but she bravely fought back and he fled empty handed.
“If anyone was in the area or thinks they know who is responsible please get in touch.
“I would also ask local residents to be aware of this incident and mindful of your surroundings and personal safety while out and about.”
