A LOCAL councillor is refusing to give up on securing the future of a Wigan recycling centre.
Conservative Coun Richard Clayton has launched a petition to save the Orrell Recycling Centre, which is set for closure on February 29.
Within the first week of it being set up, more than 1,400 backed the petition and Coun Clayton says he expects to hit 2,000 by the end of this week.
Coun Clayton wants the centre to stay open even longer though, even pledging at a recent full council meeting to put all of his Brighter Borough allowance into extending its life.
