A PUBLIC-SECTOR strike affecting services like bin collections and schools in Wigan has been suspended.
Members of unions Unison, GMB and Unite were scheduled to walkout over pay on October 14.
More than 30,000 households were set to miss their bin collections and the school day faced disruption with teaching assistants included in the staff taking part in the strike.
The unions said new proposals had been received from the Local Government Association and would be put to their members for consultation.
Alison Mckenzie-Folan, Wigan Council’s director for customer transformation said: “We welcome the suspension of strike action planned for October 14. All Wigan Council’s services will now be running as normal on that day.”
