CAN anyone solve the gruesome mystery of blood found at Wigan Pier?
An Evening Post reader took this picture on the Trencherfield Mill towpath while cycling last Wednesday. The congealed puddle was next to a bench which used to house to one of the Pier’s heritage statues. It was removed after being vandalised.
The reader, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The person must have been in a pretty bad way to have lost that much blood. If this was the victim of an attack it might have happened somewhere else and then he sat on the bench with his head between his legs.”
Police have not linked the blood to any reported attack so far. Anyone with details should ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
