JJB Sports has sub-let 100,000 sq ft of its surplus storage space at Martland Mill.

Bosses say the move will save the company a “significant” amount of money.

The North West Industrial team at CBRE and Littler & Associated have jointly let the space to supply chain logistics operator Torque Logistics.

The property was put under offer within three months of coming to the market. The building, built nine years ago, benefits from eaves of 15 metres and a three-tier mezzanine floor that brings the total floor space to over 350,000 sq ft.

Alan Stell, Property Estates Manager for JJB Sports Plc said: “This letting of surplus warehousing space is a further step in the company’s turnaround programme.

“Not only does it save the company a significant amount of money, it provides long term rental income and the 10 year lease enhances the asset value of the JJB site.

“We are happy to welcome Torque Logistics onto the site and look forward to seeing their business grow in the future.”

David Scott, Head of Warehousing & Logistics for Torque, added: “We are delighted to open our first facility in the North West.

“Torque now has over 1.3m sq ft of UK warehousing where we can offer a full range of services including imports and exports, end to end service, processing and pick and pack.

“This expansion is integral to the company’s growth strategy and a great opportunity to create jobs within the local community.”
