AN up and coming business venture is flanked by two more established firms at the Newtown end of Ormskirk Road.

Located on the busy through-route linking Robin Park to Orrell, the shops and services have a distinct advantage of having plenty of passing trade and areas to park nearby.

Stacey Newton and Danielle Cain opened The Studio Hair and Beauty Salon a little over a month ago.

The salon is open Tuesday to Saturday with late evening openings from Wednesday to Friday and offers a full range of hair styling services and beauty treatments.

Stacey said: “We also have sunbeds here as well, they’re £1 for four minutes.

“This is a good location for us, it’s a busy road and things have started well.

“We do hair colouring, big bouncy blowdrys, hair-ups and offer services for weddings and special occasions.”

Nu-Way Flooring has been trading since 1967 with manager Viqar Akram taking over the running of the family owned business more than 20 years ago.

The shop is hoping for a fresh start after overcoming an unfortunate flooding issue.

Renowned for offering quality products at reasonable prices, Nu-Way has built up a loyal base of regular customers over the years.

Viqar and his staff offer a free local professional measuring and design service.

He said: “The business was established in 1967 and my dad was in charge from 1979.

“I took over when I left university in 1992.

“We are seeing different generations coming back because of the quality that we sell and because they’ve always shopped here.”

Rolling Pin Bakery is another well established name on Ormskirk Road with a host of loyal customers.

Offering homemade goods, the bakery also lays the bold claim of making the best pies in Wigan.

Joe Grindley said: “We have been here for 30 years now and a lot of our trade is from regular customers.

“We have a full range of sandwiches and baked goods, we make everything on site, nothing is brought in.

“There’s also a selection of sweet treats and Uncle Joe’s products on sale.”
