TWO eco-friendly Wigan businesses and a school have been handed bronze awards after they pledged to go green.
Westco, PA Hull and Woodfield Primary School achieved the award after signing up to the Environmental Business Pledge.
Run by Wigan Council and Groundwork Trust, the Environmental Business Pledge is a free advice and award scheme designed to help businesses in the borough become greener and in doing so, saving them money.
To achieve the bronze award, businesses must show their commitment to all things green.
Andy Sadler, Quality & Environmental Manager at Westco Flow Control Limited, said: “We signed up to the pledge for two reasons, firstly we felt as a company we already did a lot in terms of being efficient with both materials and energy and wanted something to reflect this to our customers.
“Secondly we wanted guidance and recommendations as to what else could be done going forwards.”
Kathryn Lowe, deputy headteacher at Woodfield Primary School, said: “Being part of the Environmental Business Pledge has helped us to improve our environmental credentials.”
