A LEIGH business which is expanding its export trade has been named as one of the winners of the 2014 North of England Excellence Awards.

Brand-Rex, which manufactures specialist cables, won the Special Award for International Trade.

David Teale, Chief Executive of awards organiser North of England Excellence, said: “Exporting is the lifeblood of Brand-Rex’s continued success and its international trade is on the up. The company places employees in key foreign markets so enabling Brand-Rex’s local people to develop and nurture close and effective relationships with customers.

“The achievements of Brand-Rex and other winners hold lessons for us all. We hope their success will inspire others to find ways to improve productivity and performance and continue to develop a culture of excellence in the North.”

Brand-Rex managers were presented with the award at the awards ceremony at The Armouries, Leeds.
