A WIGAN student has proved that going on work experience can lead to employment.
Joe Higham, who attends Winstanley College, worked for just two weeks at opticians Suzanne Dennis Optometrist and has now been offered a Saturday job at the Parbold practice, as well as holiday cover.
The 17-year-old, of Shevington, was put to the test in all areas of optometry, giving him a full insight into whether optometry is the right career choice for him.
Joe is now recommending all students try and get as much work experience as possible as it also helps when applying to universities.
He said: It was great to get a real overview.”
Suzanne Dennis said: “Joe was a real credit.
“He was extremely positive and enthusiastic. If we can show students the diversity of the job, it can only be a good thing to help promote optometry as a career choice and the many opportunities it can open up.”
