TWO plucky businessmen are on a mission to make sure the people of Wigan are getting a good deal.

As many people are having to tighten their belts to deal with rising VAT and the higher cost of living Reece Haslam and his business partner, Andrew Cornwall-Nash, have launched a brand new discount card scheme aimed at lifting some of the strain.

And although the scheme has only been up and running in the town for a few weeks it is already proving a hit with shoppers.

Reece, 26, said: “We’re finding that we’re stopping people in the street who have already heard about the card, because their friends have got one and so they want one too. We are offering discounts on dining, leisure, retail and nightlife and there are some really good savings for people to get 10 per cent off in some clothes shops, 2-4-1 on meals in some restaurants and free entry into clubs ,for example. Our aim is to offer something for everyone.”

The discount card, called T2T VIP, has been launched in two other towns so far but by the summer the entrepreneurial pair hope to have it in most towns across the country. And they have been in Wigan town centre to tell people about the card, which costs £5 for 12 months, but they also have an offer on online for two for one on the cards for a limited period.

Reece said: “We wanted to set up this business because we know that there are a lot of people struggling at the moment to be able to do the things they enjoy. Businesses are also suffering too and a lot of those we have signed up to the scheme in Wigan are independent businesses so it will work for them as well by drawing in customers. T2T stands for town to town because as well as the independent businesses we also have some of the bigger stores on board too so you can use your card in other areas as well.”
