THE speakers and exhibits at this year’s Wigan Business Expo on Friday just keep getting better.
As news came through that all of its stands have now been booked, it was also announced that star of the BBC show and local woman Rebecca Slater is set to attend.
She will be accompanied by four prestigious sporting trophies; the Rugby League World Cup, FA Cup, Challenge Cup and Northern Rail Cup – the first time all four cups have been on display at the same venue.
Organised by Wigan Council with partner the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub, the Wigan Business Expo Twenty13 is free to attend and will take place at the DW Stadium between 8am and 3pm.
It aims to be the biggest business to business event to take place in the North West this year.
Also confirmed is the new electric BMW i3, being showcased by sponsor Halliwell Jones. It will be the first opportunity for the public to see the car since its world launch simultaneously in New York, London and Bejing and delegates will be able to book a test drive.
More than 140 businesses are exhibiting at the event and visitors will also benefit from a dedicated Meet the Experts area. The Expo will feature seminars covering all areas of business growth, Meet the Buyers opportunities and impartial one to one advice from a range of experts.
Coun David Molyneux, deputy leader of Wigan Council and portfolio holder for Economy, said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to come together, make new contacts, find out more about the support that is available to them and to show the North West what a wealth of talent, innovation and industry we have in Wigan.
“The event is designed to help local companies really make the most of the opportunities that are available to them.
“We’ve already been inundated with bookings and enquiries and are very confident that this year’s Expo will be even bigger and better than last year’s sellout event.”

This event will do just that in one very accessible and exciting event and we’re really proud to be partnering with Wigan Council to put it on.”
