Have your say

BUSINESSES, residents and licence holders are being asked to have their say on plans for new policies for both licensing and gambling in Wigan borough.

Wigan Council is required to publish policy statements for licensing in relation to alcohol, public entertainment and late night refreshments and gambling. The current policies will remain in force until January and a review is now under way to help to shape revisions.

As well as consulting the local police and fire service, the council wants to hear from licence holders, residents and businesses on the draft policy statements which have been drawn up.

Coun Paul Prescott, chairman of the council’s licensing committee, said: “Regulating gambling and licensing activities is a very important role for us as a council, and the polices will form the basis for how we assess and determine future applications. We urge anyone who wants to have their say to add their comments as through The Deal we encourage businesses and residents to get involved.”

The draft statements are available at: www.wigan.gov.uk/LicensingAct2003 and www.wigan.gov.uk/GamblingLicensing
