A CAR collided with a lorry on a busy route through Wigan.

The emergency services were called to Darlington Street, in Higher Ince, after a beige Renault Clio collided with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) at around 3.20pm on Monday.

No-one was injured in the crash.

Fire crews were called to the scene as a precaution because a HGV was involved, but neither vehicle was set alight and they were stood down.

Workmen from Wigan Council’s highways department also attended the incident and cleared the debris off the road. Although the crash caused some disruption to traffic, no road closures were required.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they would not be taking the matter further.
