A CARER cheated a frail Wigan pensioner out of more than £6,000 to fund her cocaine habit.

Callous Amanda Higson abused her position to write cheques on Peter Jolley’s account, use his credit card, and spend his pension income, a court heard.

Higson, of Saddleback Road, Norley, pleaded guilty to five fraud offences involving a total of £6,600. She was sentenced to 40 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

A Liverpool Crown Court judge also ordered her to carry out 200 hours’ unpaid work and to attend the Women’s Project.

Today, her former employers said they were appalled by her crimes, and accused her of “undermining trust”.
