DEVOTED members of staff have been awarded for their caring role at a residential home.

Housekeepers at Belong Wigan, in Platt Bridge, have been awarded the title of Belong Team of the Year at the 2012 CLS Care Group Staff Awards.

They were praised for improving customer experience, and were presented with their accolade by Des Kelly, executive director of the National Care Forum. Head housekeeper Christine McComb, 63, Gwendoline Molyneux, 55, and Marion Jones, 56, (pictured) were praised by judges for good communication and team spirit.

Gill Menguy, Belong Wigan general manager, said: “The Belong Wigan housekeepers are a devoted team, who go out of their way to provide the best possible service to our residents. Recently, for example, they painstakingly cleaned a wedding dress, made from a World War Two parachute, to support the wishes of a bereaved spouse. They truly deserve this award.”

The annual CLS Group Staff Awards recognise the exceptional contributions individuals and teams make to Belong through their day-to-day roles, as nominated by colleagues, residents and relatives from a workforce of more than 2,000 people.

During the event, all Belong Wigan staff who have gained professional qualifications in the last year, including diplomas in health and social care and leadership and management, were formally congratulated and presented with certificates.
