Cash floods in for our Naomi
Naomi's Fight is gathering pace - readers have helped boost the Wigan Evening Post's campaign to help buy life-prolonging equipment for two-year-old Naomi Farrington, from Ince, who suffers from cystic fibrosis.
The pot has now swelled considerably thanks to an anonymous pledge of 1,000.
The balance currently stands at 3,504 leaving 16,496 to raise before Naomi's special compression vest can be bought from America, vastly improving her quality of life.
Naomi's aunt, Tracy Morris, who has been helping to hit the 20,000 target, said: "Everyone has been so generous, we really can't thank them enough.
"We have even received a donation from Denmark. We were astounded that someone so far away has been so touched by Naomi's story."
Members of Naomi's family, including her mum and dad, Sarah Prowse and Christopher Farrington, are now busy organising a fund-raiser to be held on July 12 at Jay Dee's in Poolstock.
Since appealing for help through the Evening Post, they have been inundated with offers of assistance.
Tracy, 40, said: "We held a family meeting and everyone has been delegated a job to do to make sure everything goes well.
"We have been in touch with lots of people who want to help which is great.
"Local band, Before Autumn Falls, have offered to play an all-night set, and raffle prizes have been flooding in.
"We have been given a 50 gift voucher from Red Closet in Hallgate, 60 worth of jewellery from Secret Garden, 10 free sunbed sessions from
Bronze Blonde in Springfield and Big Picture, on Wigan Lane, have said we can have a 168 portrait with photo session, which is fantastic.
"The owner of Party With Us, on Manchester Road, Ince, has also been in touch to say that she is willing to decorate the interior of Jay Dee's to make it look fantastic on the night.
"There are some really kind people out there."
Naomi's Fight is now going global, when the toddler's cousin, Craig Mulqueeney, a soldier in the Grenadier Guards, flies out to the Falkland Islands later this month.
If anyone would like to make a donation to the appeal, cheques must be payable to 'Naomi's Fight'.
