A VILLAGE’S big summer get-together will be bigger and bolder than ever.
For not only is one of Britain’s most popular actresses opening it, but Shevington Fete is for the first time joining forces with the Gardening Club’s flower and vegetable show.
There will be an enhanced range of activities and attractions on and around Shevington Recreation ground and the adjacent community and church buildings at the August 3 event which will be opened at 12.30pm by TV star Sue Johnston.
Improvements to this year’s fete include grouping all stalls supplying catering facilities together in a new “food quarter.”
Meanwhile the Gardening Club’s pupular flower and vegetable show has moved to the Youth Centre, which means that the flower, vegetable, domestic, arts and crafts and photography sections can all be housed in one building.
There will be a record number of artists appearing in the music marquee, the popular Teddy Bears’ Picnic for young ones has a bigger plot for fun and cup cakes and the Dance Hall will have an assortment of attractions and stalls with on-field activities organised by Shevington’s football and rugby groups.
