THE M6 motorway ground to a halt this afternoon after two crashes in the space of an hour.
The first incident happened shortly after 1pm today between junctions 26 and 25 on the southbound carriageway.
Three vehicles were involved and had to be moved to the hard shoulder in what is believed to have been a minor collision. A child was injured in the crash but their injuries are not serious.
The cars were removed from the carriageways by 1.25pm but emergency services were called to another collision in the backlog of traffic.
This crash, which happened at 2.15pm between junctions 27 and 26, was between a HGV and a car.
Two people sustained minor injuries and the vehicles were cleared from the carriageway by 3.15pm.
