COMMENT - A fine effort

IT is always good to see young members of our community going the extra mile for a good cause.

One such fund-raiser is nine-year-old Jack Beveridge, from Orrell, who has decided to swim continuously for one hour in order to raise money to help send his junior rugby team on a tour of Wales.

A keen athlete, Jack has decided to use his talents not just for personal satisfaction but to help his team-mates, who he has only been playing alongside for half a season.

His effort and selflessness should be most warmly applauded.
