WIGANERS were shown a great pair of lungs as part of a health awareness campaign.

Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust joined forces with Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s MEGA Lungs campaign to raise awareness of the risks of smoking.

A giant set of the pulmonary organs was displayed at Leigh Library, which provides visitors with an interactive, educational experience about the respiratory system.

Visitors were able to step inside the human lung model, learn about the various structures and normal lung functions, observe examples of lung trauma and disease.

The Bridgewater Trust’s Stop Smoking advisor Sue Margetts also attended the event to discuss the negative effects of taking up the habit.
