THE family of a popular mum who died suddenly have raised hundreds of pounds in her memory.

Lynette Atherton died at home in Ashton on May 8 from a heart attack after suffering weeks of chest pain, leaving behind her husband, four children and 15 grandchildren.

Since then her husband Kevin has worked tirelessly to raise as many funds as possible for the special guardianship support group in Leigh which the couple have been members of for years.

The group aims at helping those who care for those who have a special guardianship order.

The group meet every two-weeks, 10am-noon at Leigh Miners Rugby Club, anyone interesting or needing any information should ring the chairman, Colin Watts 01942 702844.
