A WIGAN man who pinned his wife against a wall by her neck has avoided jail.
Michael Lowe, 26, pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife on February 21 this year when he appeared before magistrates in Wigan.
The incident took place at a solicitors’ practice when they got into a row as they waited in an interview room. Eventually staff managed to get Mrs Lowe away and when speaking to Miss Voss she revealed that he had assaulted her before and that she wanted to get away from him, so alternative accommodation was sought for the victim that night.
Lowe of Ormskirk Road, Newtown, was given a 12 month supervision order, a six week curfew, was ordered to pay £100 in costs to the court and £100 in compensation to his ex-wife.
Defending Jonathon Conder said: “Mr Lowe previously had a drink problem but now any drinking that he was doing is under control.
“He has left his wife and is living back at home with his mum and is seeking a divorce.”
