Two arrests after man stabbed in stomach

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach at a shopping precinct.

Police were called to Scholes precinct shortly before 1.10am on Wednesday to reports of a man being stabbed.

They found a 34-year-old man with stab wounds to his stomach.

Police today said he remained in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in police custody for questioning.
