Witness appeal in assault case

A MAN suffered a fractured eye socket and bruised ribs following an assault.

Police are appealing for information following the incident which happened at 4.30am on Tuesday, December 27.

A 39-year-old man was sitting on a wall on Birleywood, Skelmersdale, near to the shops, when he was approached by three men.

One of the men punched him in the face without warning and knocked him to the floor where he was then kicked and punched to the head and body.

The three suspects are only described as being white men.

Sergeant Andy Willis, of Lancashire Police, said: “The man was simply sat waiting for a taxi when, for no apparent reason, the three men subjected him to this attack.

“If anybody has any information at all about this assault then I would urge them to contact police, by assisting us in dealing with this incident you will help to make your community a safer place.”
