A DISABLED Wigan man has been devastated by the killing of three baby rabbits on his allotment plot.

The man had been at the plot, behind Warrington Road and Poolstock Lane, on Sunday 27 October 2013, but by the time he returned on the Monday morning, the rabbit hutch had been trashed.

He also found the three baby rabbits, which were born about two weeks ago, had been stamped on. While they sadly died, the adult rabbits he keeps, who had also been stamped on, managed to survive.

Officers investigating this incident have also launched a separate investigation after the side of the shed on the plot was set on fire, sometime between Friday 18 October and Friday 25 October 2013.

Police Constable Wendy Potter said: “We will do all we can to find out who carried out the savage act of killing these baby rabbits, but we would also want to ask why.

“The man is devastated by these events, which I have no doubt will sicken members of our community.”
