ALTHOUGH they are somewhat off the beaten track, businesses on Great George Street and Clayton Street have a lot to offer for Wigan shoppers.

Located off Wallgate and within walking distance of the town centre, there is a range of services, shops and garages that can be found in the vicinity.

And parents with young children will be familiar with one of the more prominent establishments on Great George Street.

The Rumble Tumble children’s play area has been going for more than a decade as the party venue of choice for the borough’s kids.

Manager Chris Prescott said: “It’s a soft play area facility but we also have a cafe and do food for children’s parties.

“As you would expect, we’re always really busy during school holidays, we have hundreds of kids in a day.

“During term time we’re busy at weekends but we are also open to parents with toddlers during the week while the older ones are at school.

“We’ve also got some offers on in the lead up to Christmas that parents should have a look at.”

Across on Clayton Street, Iron Works stocks everything gym fanatics and bodybuilders could need.

Owner Gary Beardsmore said: “We have been trading for about three years now and things are going well.

“We sell our own supplement products as well as equipment and clothing.

“As well as our business in Wigan, we trade all over the world through our website – www.teamironworks.com and stock gyms and shops across the UK.

“In the lead up to Christmas we’ve got a special offer on gift vouchers, if you buy £50, we’ll give you an extra £10 free to use in store or online.”

Back on Great George Street, Charlon clothing has been trading for nearly a decade.

Providing bespoke uniforms and clothing for nursing and care staff among others.

Sales director Donna Flynn said: “We have about ten staff now who have more than 25 years experience making high quality products.

“We can make bespoke uniforms made to order and also do our own embroidery with company logos if requested.

“All of our products and the services we provide can be found on our website at www.uniqueuniformsforwork.co.uk”
