A DRUG addict was given a community order for stealing from the same shop twice in one day.
Gareth Boyer, of Huxley Place, Worsley Mesnes appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court charged with theft from Wilkinsons Stores on Standishgate, Wigan on May 5.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing toiletries and food items from the store.
Prosecuting, Mike Ardern told the court: “Witnesses saw the defendant put razors and face cream into a carrier bag and walk off, he was then detained.
“He had already been in the store earlier and had taken food items without paying.
“He was stealing for others, he is being bullied by drug addicts.”
Defending, Kevin Listern said: “The defendant has been subjected to abuse, he is trying to get help for his addiction and is now free from heroin.”
He was given a 12 month supervised community order and mental health treatment.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £37.16, the value of the goods which were not recovered.
