POLICE uncovered a cannabis farm following an early morning raid at a Wigan home.
Officers were alerted to an address on Warrington Road, Spring View, shortly after 9am yesterday morning following a tip-off from a local housing association.
They subsequently discovered 42 cannabis plants, which had been cultivated in a nearby garage.
A police response vehicle remained at the scene for several hours.
A force spokeswoman confirmed yesterday afternoon that there was nobody inside the property at the time and no arrests had yet been made - although efforts were being made to speak to the tenant.
She said: “We were called out at about 9.20am. Officers attended and found a cannabis farm consisting of 42 plants.
“The tip-off was received from the housing association which owns the property and nobody was inside the address at the time. Inquiries are ongoing.
“It’s very difficult to estimate the value of the plants at this stage because it is not known whether they were just in their infancy or were fully grown.”
