A WIGAN college has been rewarded for its commitment to Olympic values.
Winstanley College has been officially welcomed in to London 2012’s Get Set network, by The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), in recognition of its commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values. This has been achieved through a variety of activities, including workshops, competitive sports recognised by an annual presentation evening and donating sports kit to places such as Gambia and Venezuela.
Jayne Bridge, Sports Enrichment Officer at Winstanley said: “Our aim is sport for all; we want students and staff who traditionally aren’t involved in sport to have a go. Students here are excellent examples of how London 2012 is helping to spark young people’s imagination and inspire them to get involved.”
