A SECONDARY school has been saluted for achieving fairtrade status.
Haydock High has been awarded a Fairtrade Foundation Award after satisfying a string of challenging criteria.
Staff and pupils helped to write a school fairtrade policy, they have also sold and promoted fairtrade goods, set up a fairtrade steering group and learnt about fairtrade in at least two year groups and three subject areas.
Louise Hampson, the school’s fairtrade co-ordinator, said: “I am absolutely delighted that the work of pupils and staff has been recognised by this award.”
The school’s fairtrade assessor praised the innovative integration of fairtrade principles into French and technology classes.
