A SCHOOL holiday club has treated its youngsters to a virtual taste tour of India.

Every day this week, Kids United at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, is holding activities relating to Indian culture as part of its ongoing airport theme.

Monday kicked off with a visit from the staff at the Raj restaurant in Woodhouse Lane, Wigan, when the children enjoyed taste testing Indian cuisine and lessons on what types of foods are popular in India.

Other activities during the week will include a poetry session and Indian dramas.

Each week, the children ‘visit’ a different destination to learn about different cultures and traditions. Last week’s destination was California.

Lynne Sudworth, owner of Kids United, said: “We aim to teach kids about all sorts of things and we like to put in a bit of culture and teach them with trips and attractions.”

Next week is London Olympic week. Fitting in with the real life games, the children will enjoy various sports, an assault course and a visit from a North West Olympic poet.

Mrs Sudworth added: “Lynne said: “We went strawberry picking and the kids really enjoyed it. We’re teaching the kids about being healthy as well as having fun-and eating lots!”

Kids United is open all day, Monday-Friday, from 8am-6pm, during the summer, and before and after school during term time.
