A NINE-year-old girl has had her golden locks chopped off to give to children with cancer.

Emily Scrutton, of Aspull, and her mum, Hayley, 38, opted to have their long hair cut to donate to the Little Princess Trust.

And the Our Lady’s Primary School pupil has also been fund-raising for the charity, selling coffee and cakes, reaching £600, which can fund two wigs.

Emily said; “I wanted my hair short and when I heard about the Little Princess Trust I thought it would be a great idea to donate it to that.

“I feel really proud knowing that my hair will go to a child who would be feeling upset that they have lost their hair.

“I really like my new hair, which comes to the middle of my neck.”

Hayley said: “Emily was inspired by her recent reading of Little Women decided that she wanted to donate her own hair to the charity.

“I was so impressed I decided to join her in the big Christmas chop and we had 25cm cut off. We are so proud of Emily.”
