THIS is the face of a would-be robber who held up a Wigan bookie’s.
The flat-capped stranger’s image was clearly caught on cameras as he tried to break into a gaming machine during a raid in which he also threatened a female member of staff who believed he might have a knife.
Police today appealed for information saying that someone must surely recognise him from these images.
It was 8.50pm last Friday when he first walked into into Ladbrokes on Woodhouse Drive, Beech Hill and used the toilet. He browsed around the shop before leaving.
A few minutes later, the same man walked back into the shop and approached the counter.
He demanded the worker gave him money before he pointed a plastic bag at her, intimating he was holding a gun.
No money was handed over and the man walked to a gaming machine before hitting it with a wooden door stop a number of times. He then left empty-handed.
Det Con Suzanne Rigby from Wigan West INPT said: “These images were taken from the machine he was trying to damage.
“As you can see, they are very clear and we are certain someone out there knows who this man is.
“The man intimated he had a gun and understandably the staff member was terrified as she did not know whether he was telling the truth or whether she would come to any harm.
“I would ask anyone who recognises the man in the pictures or if you saw someone similar leaving the shop at the time of the incident to contact police.”
