THE inquest has opened into the death of a worker at a Wigan factory.

Dad-of-one Jacek Adamowicz was fatally injured when a stack of boxes or pallets fell on him at the Hitchens Foods plant at Ince last Wednesday week.

Warm tributes have since been paid to the Polish-born 29-year-old who lived in Ince with his wife Barbara and two-year-old son Patryk and had worked for Hitchens for a decade.

The Health and Safety Executive has launched an inquiry into Mr Adamowicz’s death and on Thursday an inquest was opened at Bolton Coroner’s Court and then adjourned pending further inquiries.
