COMMUTERS making their way to work through a Wigan borough village on Thursday were shocked to see a police presence either side of a busy through-route.
Thankfully there had not been a road traffic collision near to the junction of Mill Lane and Miles Lane in Appley Bridge.
Instead police officers had set up a temporary speed trap as part of an ongoing crackdown on reckless drivers.
A mobile camera van was stationed on one side of the road using automatic number plate recognition technology (ANPR).
And traffic officers were also using hand-held speed guns at the location throughout the morning.
