A TEENAGER has been convicted of causing the death of Wigan football stalwart Tommy Berry by driving without due care and attention.
Mr Berry, a Latics fan who supported Wigan Athletic both home and away, sustained fatal injuries following a collision with a Fiat Punto while out on a bike ride in Croston last March.
The 58-year-old was also a popular figure on the local amateur football scene, in which he also acted as a coach.
Samuel Fawcett, 19, of Liverpool Road, Rufford, has since been convicted of causing Mr Berry’s death, following a trial at Lancaster Crown Court. He is due to be sentenced on July 31.
