Fears after pet parrot flies off

A pet owner is asking for help to find her beloved parrot Frank.

Adele Foster, from Balcarres Road, Aspull, has been walking the streets putting up posters on lampposts desperate for information which could lead to her green-cheeked Conure being returned home.

Frank, who is 15 months old, is a rare parrot that originates from South America.

He went missing last week when he flew from his cage in the back garden of Adele's home.

The 37-year-old kitchen designer said: "It was a such a terrible thing

to happen. It was a warm day so I decided to take Frank outside in his cage.

"But little did I know that the latch was loose, so Frank flew out of the opening before I could even close it. Nothing like this has ever happened before.

"I am desperate to have him back because I love caring for him, which I have done for over a year."

Adele has another bird and she says Fergus, a two-year-old African Grey parrot, hasn't been his usual rambunctious self without Frank by his side.

"He's really missing having him around," said Adele. "Fergus has been very quiet since Frank went away.

"Before we got Frank, Fergus was very unsettled and even went through a phase of tearing his own feathers out.

"But when Frank came along Fergus felt more comfortable and became a healthier bird.

"Now Frank has gone missing I fear Fergus will start harming himself again."

Frank is mainly green, has a red long tail, blue tips on the end of his wings and a black head. He also has a distinctive yellow mark on one of his wings.

Bill Stubbs, of the RSPCA, said: "Whenever such an incident occurs it is important that the owner contacts veterinary surgeries in the area.

"They may even want to call the police as such accidents could end up as a possible theft."

Call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
