Firefighters were called into action after a kitchen fire broke out in Westhoughton.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at a property on Washacre Close, at approximately 11.50am this morning (Wednesday).

Crews from Leigh, Hindley and Atherton attended the property, which suffered minor fire damage and smoke damage.

Am ambulance crew attended and treated the homeowner for breathing difficultirs, but it is not known whether they were taken to hospital.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and there were no other reporter injuries during the incident.
